East Setauket, NY : Metropolitan Hilarion leads Divine Services for the Feast of the Elevation of the Cross at the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross Monastery.
On Saturday the 27th of September, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, paid an archpastoral visit to the Brotherhood of the Holy Cross, where he led the divine services for the great feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross.
At the Divine Liturgy His Eminence was co-served by Archimandrite Maximos Weimar, Abbot of the Brotherhood, Archimandrite John Erickson and Hieromonk Siluan Justiano, clerics of the monastery. Also serving were Hierodeacon Dionysios and Deacon Dionysius Lvov (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City).
At the end of matins His Eminence ordained Theodotus (Michael) Conrad as a reader and then as a subdeacon. Reader Elias (John) Ballard was given the right to wear an oraion.
Upon completion of the Liturgy, His Eminence performed the Rite of the Elevation of the Cross. The Cross used by his Eminence during the rite is particularly precious to the Brotherhood since it contains a piece of the Living Cross of Our Lord.
His Eminence spoke at the end of the service about the importance of the Holy Cross in our lives. Archimandrite Maximos thanked his Eminence for coming to celebrate the Feast with the Brotherhood and all their parishioners.
After the service, a bountiful luncheon was served by the parish. All the parishioner’s and guest enjoyed the agape meal. A good time was had by all and all were reluctant to have our Metropolitan leave our presence.
